The 2014 season is upon us and it looks like a great year for SoCal Drag Racing.

First up this season as far as larger meets is of course the world famous March Meet at Famoso Raceway just north of Bakersfield. If you have any clue about drag racing you already know the importance and the legacy of the March Meet. Whether you go for one day or the entire event you will have escaped the normal and time traveled to the heyday of drag racing. Do not miss your chance to see and talk with the best of the bunch. The racing will be unmatched as far as racing in the Nitro categories with the Nostalgia Funny Car class drawing amazing cars from just about everywhere.

It is Friday morning and we are heading out to the ANRA Fuel and Gas Finals at Famoso Raceway just north of Bakersfield.

The Rust-T will win the Open Wheel Championship again when it stages for first round Sunday.
I'm just bragging cause I biult it. It is owned and raced by the Early Riders Motor Club

Irwindale Event Center Dragstrip

In the category of "You never know what you will see at Irwindale"

Thursday April 18th is another chance to catch the taping of the new "Won & Done" series on MAVTV. While the actual taping takes up a bit of time on the track cars are allowed to run from about 2:00pm so there is no lack of opportunity for the test&tune participants.

Also I want to mention the best food available at any track I have seen. "All Kinds of BBQ" and "All Kinds of Mexican Food" are operated side-by-side in the food court area of the pits/parking lot. There is no need to bring dinner to the track or try to find a restaurant in the local area, just have dinner at the track. Heading for Irwindale March 14th

I am just getting ready to head out the 210 Fwy to the 605 south and the first turnoff Arrow Hwy. Irwindale Dragstrip's Thursday Night Thunder test & tune night is quite an opportunity for making numerous passes down the eighth mile track. Runs start promptly at 5 PM and announcer Bob Beck calls the action. NHRA safety rules apply, must pass simple tech inspection. You should come out and give it a try ... you might like it.

I have a couple of comments and/or suggestions for anyone running at this track.

#1   ALL cars running on the track MUST have at least one working tail light. (NHRA rulebook)

#2   ALL cars MUST turn on the tail light WHEN THE TRACK LIGHTS ARE ON!

#3   AFTER the first turnout (if you missed it) you must continue down the return road.
           DO NOT make a U-turn on the return road for any reason.
           Continue around on the return road and back to the pits.

The 2013 March Meet at Famoso Raceway

The March Meet is biggest 4 days of drag racing in the Nation and runs from March 7th to March 10th. Tickets available online at www.autoclubfamosoraceway.com and at the gate during the event.

Celebrating 55 years of racing, the March Meet is a four-day speedfest of quarter-mile drag racing. It attracts drag racers and spectators from around the world and also includes a hot rod car show, swap meet and a vendors’ midway. The 2013 March Meet will be held Mar. 7-10 at historic Auto Club Famoso Raceway. March Meet advance ticket sales, as well as tickets for car show registration and camping, are now available on the Auto Club Famoso website and at www.TheFOAT.com.

The Kern County Racing Association operates Auto Club Famoso Raceway (just north of Bakersfield, Calif.) and promotes a full schedule of races year round, including the world famous March Meet, which is recognized as the Mecca of nostalgia drag racing.
